Close Quarters is a quarterly conversation with one or two interdisciplinary artists, designers, or craftsmen. Sometimes at the artist’s studio, these events allow for close, hands-on examination of work and engaging dialog. For our second installment we will be talking with Sophie Lucido Johnson of Neutrons Protons.
Sophie Lucido Johnson – Neutrons Protons
July 16, 7-9pm (presentation starts at 7:30pm)
The NOCCA Institute’s 5 Press Gallery
5 Press Street at the corner of Royal and Press
Sophie Lucido Johnson is an artist and writer who lives in New Orleans. She is the editor-in-chief of the self-proclaimed idiosyncratic literary project Neutrons Protons, which publishes humor writing, comics, and creative nonfiction online and in print. Sophie is a bookmaker and watercolor artist as well, and has had her work published in Jezebel, the Hairpin, LAIKA, The Nation, The Teaching Artist Journal, and elsewhere. She is also a teacher, and has written and designed an arts-integrated social-emotional curriculum for students who have emotional disturbances and PTSD. She is, finally, a nationally touring comedian, and teaches and coaches improvisational comedy.
SIFT is pleased to partner with The NOCCA Institute’s 5 Press Gallery to bring to you this month’s CloseQuarters.
